chocolate chip cookie

Today after class I went out to lunch with a friend from my art class to Tokyo Joe's and when i order I grabbed a cookie because it looked so good. It was kinda a strange mix of sushi and a chocolate chip cookie. But then again I'm weird and can mix things together that alot of people wouldn't usaully mix together.
After sitting here eating it I remember making chocolate chip cookies with my mom when I was a kid. It was the only time I remember spending time with my mom when i was a kid. I do have to say that the cookies I used to make with my mom taesed better but I like how the cookie I got at Tokyo Joe's is soft.

Butterfinger

-- Butterfinger is the second best candy bar out there besides Snickers. Snickers may have the nuts ;; && the Carmel;; but the Butterfinger has the crunch;; && the enjoy of it. If you don't know my number one favorite candy bar then you don't know me period except for my favorite color is pink. It brings the history in my family why we enjoy are Butterfinger.

Brings a history why I like Butterfinger. When Halloween comes around in my family or anytime it's time to hide the Butterfinger bag. I realize over the years my family has this history that they all like Butterfingers there favorite candy bar. I don't know why they like that candy bar;; but it shows me that we all have something in common which is cute;; my family and I we all have nothing in common except we all drive each other nuts.

Besides the Butterfinger all crunch ness of the the candy bar. It has this taste like it's sweet;; and the that can get stuck to your teeth . I can just taste the chocolate melt in my mouth like any other candy bar out there. It's absolutely good beside the Snickers bar. Pretty much should me that a candy bar can have some meaning to you even though its weird. But I'm glad that my family;; && I have a common in a same candy bar.

Practice Blog

On my way to class today I realized "OMG i forgot to bring food", so I went downstairs and picked up a cup of popcorn from The Den. This seemed to be the easiest and most logical thing to do. Upon ariving to class started to think about how much I actually enjoy popcorn and the best part was it was free. I managed to kill 2 birds with one stone. Not many people realize the importance of popcorn and what a tasty treat it is. I think it's safe to say that I am not the only person who purchases a large bag of popcorn before entering a movie theatre. Popcorn has become a huge part of the movie industry and for simple reasons, it is delicious and something people can snack on while enjoying a show.
I can't remember one time that I havent got a bag of popcorn at the movie theatres. The first Good experience i had with popcorn was when I was around 4 years old and i tried it for the first time. I can't remember my exact reaction to it but i remember that i enjoyed it very much. Following this good experience several weeks later was a bad experience. My brother who was very mischevious decided it would be funny to give me a bag of rocks and tell me it was popcorn. I was very young at the time so i tried it without hesitation. Lets just skip the details on what happened next but the hospital visit wasn't very pleasent. Regardless of the fact that i almost died i did not give up on popcorn. It's funny now because everytime i buy a bag of popcorn i naturally take a second look in the bag. I just can't escape the fact that popcorn's supreme taste is addicting and i'll keep eating it everytime i go and see a movie.

I think most people would rather snack on popcorn instead of a candy bar or chips. The only problem popcorn has is it can be messy and is not very easy to carry around. When I decide to grab a snack before class or before i leave my house i don't automaticaly think about grabbing a bag of popcorn. Unlike a candy bar or bad of chips you cannot just carry it around casually because it takes up to much room and can be a hassle. Also popcorn has to be heated up to be created and not all of us carry microwaves around with us. Although some may argue that popcorn is the best snack around, I think it is best to be saved for something to munch on at movie theatres or as a household snack. In other words popcorn is very delicicous but cannot be used as a daily snack.

Growing up there has always been food that was better than others. Children love food that they are able to play with and enjoy. A food item that reminded me of my child hood was string cheese. It was always a nice snack to have while playing outside or going on long road trips and it wasn't something that could cause a mess....which most parents like. I decided to pick string cheese because it made me think of happier and easier times as a kid.

String cheese looks like most cheese in color and appearance. However this cheese is single packaged and is clear to see through the packaging. The color of the cheese is a light color that is similar to Swiss cheese without the holes. The smell reminds me of an Italian restaurant. When it is open there are different ways to eat it, there is the normal way and then there is the way of turning the cheese into string. This can be done by pulling pieces of the cheese apart.

To some people this doesn't sound like the most exciting food in the world but to many children it is. Somethings are better left made simple and one of those things is string cheese. This was a snack that I enjoyed while I was at the park or up in the mountains growing up and I still enjoy it.

Beens and Chili

Beens and Chili, since I can remeber I have been eating beens and chili. Usually my dad will make some on sundays, he will make a pot of each and there's enough to eat all week long. It's an easy food to heat up quickly when your hungry so you don't have to make a whole meal. Beans and Chili is the only thing I don't get tired off eatihttp://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/cooking-live/pressure-cooked-pinto-beans-recipe/index.htmlng, I can eat beens and Chili all week long. I work out too so beans is a good sorce of protein.

It's a trip to cause every year my dad goes and buys a bushel of chili so we have enough for the rest of the year. After he goes and buys the chili we have to take it home and bag it. We put enough chili in a bag to make a pot of green chili then we freeze it. My mom makes beens and chili too but it's not as good as my dads. The only one that can make good beens and chili like my dad is me.

Chocolate Truffles

I ate a Chocolate Truffle in class. The smooth milk chocolate bites melt as they are quickly devoured. Nothing beats a Chocolate truffle when you want a delicious treat. They remind me of the holidays because they look like mini chocolate ornaments. They bring back memories of the Holidays because my mother used to make them all the time for Christmas and New Years.

Shesh Kabab, Delicious Taste of Middle East World,

I was born in Sayhat, Saudi Arabia which is part of the Middle East where people likes Shesh Kabab. It is a barbecue of minced lamb or beef meat that is mixed with fat, vegetables and spices. Around the Middle East each country have their own way to make shesh kabab.

This picture is taken by me using my iPhone 3GS for my first shesh kabab in a barbecue trip in the mountains of Golden. But this Shesh Kabab was in the Iraqi way of doing Kabab. In this trip I joined many Iraqi families. They show me how to do it in their style . The Iraqi Shesh Kabab contains lots Fat. It is mainly minced lamb meat mixed with all the lamb fat. So, it is the most fat kabab compared with other ways. Also, you can't eat shesh kabab without the special Arabic bread such as these breads done by my lovely wife.

Before one week from today. I have done a shesh kabab, but, it was Iranian (Persian) style. I bought it from Arash International Market which is a Middle East Iranian market.

the most difficult step in doing Shesh kabab is fixing the minced meat in the shesh.

Finally I have questions for you all. Do you taste a shesh kabab? do you made one? do you know what is the style of your shesh kabab?. Hope you will enjoy this delicious taste of Middle East World.

Good luck for you all classmates. Hope we pass this course successfully and get the maximum benefit along with Ms. Courtney Edwards.

Watermelon in the Home environment

MMMMMMMMMMM...M! I LOVE WATERMELON

Hi, My name is Eliot Green and I want to introduce you to the greatest thing to ever come into my life since spiderman undies, watermelon. OHHHH I love watermelon and I believe it should be in every household. Watermelon is so amazing because it's delicious, uum It's Delicious and there is a lot of it. When I was younger I had a dream about a watermelon. It came down from the great patch in the sky and delievered watermelon to my village for a lifetime. That dream was the moment I learned, watermelon will forever be the most delicious thing to ever grace God's green earth. First let me tell you about how watermelon taste. Honestly I can't because it's to good, so I'll try my best. Imagine your favorite food ever that came down from heaven on a plate made of diamonds hosted by angels and covered in chocolate. Yes, as ridiculous as that sounds it is that good. But the taste isn't the best part. Watermelons are large enough to feed a a small african family(... In africa...) for at least 3 months. Finally the last thing that makes watermelon amazing is the fact IT TASTE SO GOOD! And that's why everyone needs a watermelon in their home.

p.s. Watermelon goes phenominally well with fried chicken

My lunch today is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The reason I chose to eat this is because I saw that there was free food in the den when I got to school. My sandwich consits of two white pieces of bread, a cheap kind of peanut butter and cheap jelly. I say this because I have never heard of that brand when I saw it.

The peanut butter is smooth like lotion, and the jelly is as lumpy as cottage cheese. When I swallow I feel like I'm drowning in a mud puddle. Not to mention that sometimes the jelly drips from the sandwich and gets on your shirt and in turn ruins your clothes. Every so often the peanut butter might end up on your hands, if you have long hair it may stick to it. Occassionally it will end up on your face, cheeks and chin.

When I was a young child I absolutely loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It was something that my mom made for me when we were on the go. As I got older and knew better I found out how fattening white bread was and needless to say, this is no longer my favorite sandwich.

Peach

Yesterday in our English 121 class we were told to bring in “food.” That was all we were told to bring in, just some kind of food for yourself. I don’t think any of us were clear on what we would be doing with this food other then maybe eat it, but the idea sounded fun, or at least I thought it would be. When Courtney told us bring in some sort of food I already had an idea of what I wanted to bring in. The funny thing was before class I got this odd urge to eat a peach, so before I knew we would have to bring in something I had already planned to go buy a few peaches, so my plan was set.
I had made a trip to Wal-Mart to get my peaches, which probably was a really bad idea. One because I’m not a big fan of Wal-Mart and two, I had never bought fruit from Wal-Mart… By the time I had gotten to the produce section the “fruit man” let’s call him was putting out new plums which happened to be right next to the peaches. I was pretty excited to see Mr. Fruit man putting out new fruit with the thought that they would be fresh! I had gone straight to the peaches, after all that was the whole reason I was there. I had spent about five minutes or so looking at these peaches and picked the three I thought would be the best. My eyes still on the plums I thought it would be a good idea to get a few of them as well, in case you were wondering I picked up five of them. After Picking my peaches and plums I was set to leave after paying.
I had gone home after leaving Wal-Mart; set the peaches and plums in the fruit bowl we have on my kitchen table and left them till the next morning. Waking up, I will gladly admit I was excited to eat a peach and plum today. I decided to take two peaches and a plum with me to school, one peach would be for English and the other peach and Plum would be for my lunch. I brought the fruit in two bags and left them in my bag pack until I was ready to eat them. I have two hours between my Sociology class and my English class; usually I use this time to eat lunch so now was a better time than ever to each my peach and plum. I ate the plum first, which was alright I don’t think it was totally ripe just yet, but it still tasted fine. After the plum came the peach, I was on the phone with my friend Chloe while about to eat in she was going on about what time she worked tell when I bit into it, and to put it nicely this peach was nasty! You look at it from the outside and it looks fine, almost perfectly ripe, the toughness of the peach was right as far as I know. (I may not be a profession fruit picker-outer, but I like to think I know what I’m doing) But after spitting out the piece I bit into the inside of the peach was brown. Yea, brown one bite and I was done.
So here I am sitting in English class looking at this other peach in the bag, wondering to myself if it will be as bad as the other one. I don’t think I am brave enough at this point to bite into another nasty peach so it’s just sitting in front of me in its little bag until I get home and can cut it open to see if it is brown on the inside, just like the other one. It’s safe to say I might not eat another peach for a while and I learned something from this situation I may have learned something; don’t eat peaches from Wal-Mart.

practice blog- Baked Hot Cheetos

For my blog i chose baked hot cheetos. One of the reasons i chose it is because i kind of forgot and there is a vending machine stocked with this brand of chips, but also because i love these chips and have eaten them since childhood. The bag is fairly medium sized with the picture of hot cheetos and the cheeto icon chester the cheetah. The word "baked" is actually the one that takes up the most space and is even followed by an exclamation point. Apparently now every single corporation is getting a health makeover. Most people ive asked prefer normal hot cheetos because they dont like the "health taste" in their snack, but personally i love baked way more than normal hot cheetos.
The taste of this version is lighter and crispier to me, and compliments the spicy cheetoh dust even better. Ever since the first time i tried baked hot cheetos ive never felt the same way about normal hot cheetos, and have even tried other ones such as cheetoh flaming hot puffs which get kind of close to the baked flavor but still lack the wonder that is the baked flavor. Unfortunately they discontinued the big bags of baked hot cheetos probably over a year ago, but at least they still make the smaller bags for schools and similar locations. As you smell into the bag you can feel the rush of spices as you breathe in, but its not so strong that youll tear up or anything.
Like i said before, me and hot cheetos go way back. Actually as a kid i did not like hot cheetos at all, but as all the other kids were eating them i gave in and copied them. At first id rarely let the cheetos touch my tongue, id immediately send them to my teeth to chew, but as time went on my taste buds got used to them and eventually i just loved them and didnt feel any burn on my tongue at all. Im pretty sure if i had not trained my tongue at childhood, which is pretty hilarious, i would not like spicy foods today. Whats interesting is the shape of the cheeto itself. When you look at it there is no pattern just a random squiggly object covered in red dust. Even as i ponder on this strange shape i cant help but smile and finish off the cheetoh dust remaining on my fingers.

practice blog-popcorn

For this blog I have chosen to select popcorn for my food item. I was going to use a box of candy that I bought, but as I walking by The Den ,I was overcome by the smell of the popcorn. The price was also appealing......Gotta love free food.Who can resist not partaking in popcorn ,when it is so readily available?
My popcorn is in a cup that is far to small. I suppose one shouldn't complain about free food, but I find the portion just enough to entertain your taste buds , and then leaving you wanting more.Do you go to the movies and get a small cup of popcorn? I think not! At least for me it is the jumbo bucket-otherwise it is almost gone by the time the previews are over,at that is just unacceptable.
My popcorn is plain.I do not generally like to put flavor sprinkles all over my popcorn.Butter is all I need ,lots of butter. My cup is a vessel full off large fluffy clouds of goodness, beckoning to be dissolved in my mouth. It is white, with a tinge of yellow(from the insufficient amount of butter I think).it has a smell that is so intoxicating that it makes everyone want some. When you walk into class ,you can immediately tell if someone has popcorn before you even see it.At office buildings, you seem to crave popcorn without thinking about it ,as some employee recently used the microwave to pop some delicious treats, and that aroma has wandered all about the area ,inviting your senses to partake in the smell and instantly giving you a craving for popcorn.

Rice Krispie Treat

Today I brought a rice krispie treat, a tasty snack made with the cereal, rice krispies, and marshmallows. Although they are easy to make at home, the one that I have is a store bought one. These store bought ones are definitely less tasty than the home made treats. I brought it because I had a box of them and it seemed like the easiest thing to do, bring in a prewrapped snack rather than something I made and needed to wrap up myself.

The snack is wrapped in a shiny blue foil, with a big white area to write notes to a child or loved one. On the inside the snack is a sticky rectangle of tastiness. It is a little crunchy but soft at the same time due to the melty marshmallows.
As a kid my mom would always have these handy as they're tasty and they're not as bad for you as most of the other sweet snacks out there. Everyday in my lunch my mother would put a snack of some sort, and more often than not it was a rice krispie treat. It always made my luch just a little better.
One of the great things about rice krispie treats is how versatile the recipie can be. I love them with peanut butter, with chocolate, or even with sprinkles. They can be great in so many different ways.

Free Sandwhich. (Practice)

I chose to bring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because it was free in the den. When I went to the den I was surprised to see that there was a table full of fruit and nut spreads. The bread was actually exceptionally moist considering it was free. I also put a large amount of raspberry jam. The jam was in a squeeze bottle to make it easy to apply.

As a kid peanut butter and jelly was the standard lunch I would bring whenever I needed a sack lunch. Not because I particularly enjoyed the snack, but because it was convenient, fast, and loaded with carbs and fiber to fill me up for the day.
The usuall pb+j sandwich usually consisted of two thick slices of home-made bread, a conservative amount of strawberry or peach preserves, and peanut or almond butter distributed throughout the snack. Occasionally, when we really got a treat, my siblings and I would be able to make a sandwich with chocolate hazelnut spread. The smooth, sweet, chocolate taste made it second only to ice cream. Another novelty was when we got to make the snack with white bread. Looking back I have no idea why I thought white was better than homemade bread. Today I would choose my mom's bread over any other type of bread, but I guess it was probably because I hardly ever got to eat white bread.

As time went on I began to enjoy the pb+j sandwich more. It has a simple taste with unlimited possibility's. Sometimes I slice a banana or two and substitute them for the jam. I think the flavor and texture of bananas contrast well with the nutty, chunky flavor of the peanut butter. The bread doesn't just have to act as a canvas for the inner ingredients, but more as a decorative rapping to enhance the whole package. Sometimes when I'm in a minimalistic mood I'll make one with a tortilla. Other times I'll use raisin bread or french bread just to add another dimension to the taste.

Crunchy Granola Bar

Nature Valley Granola Bars are my favorite "on the go food." Today i brought it to class because it was the easiest thing to grab on my way out of my house. I buy them all the time to eat because they are so YUMMY!
I love the crunchy-ness, the smell, and the honey oat taste. they are a bit messy how much crums there are when your eating it but its soooo worth it! It's the perfect size of food for me to eat in the morning or anytimereally. I love it for food before i go run! i normally keep a box in my car just in case i forget food for the day and need something to eat to keep me going!
Apparently its the "Offical Natural Energy Bar!" and you can BUY a 12 pack of them on amazon.com. thats just silly but hey if shopping on the internet for food is better then getting in your car and running to the grocery store, this is perfect for you!

A Little Bit of Raw-men

Dozens and dozens of long, crunchiness that is flavored from a packet of powder. The powder can be chicken flavored, creamy chicken, shrimp, pork, roast beef, chili lime, and oriental flavored. Many people eat this dried food by boiling it on the stove or soaking it in warm water for 2-5 minutes. Ramen noodles, also known as instant noodles, are a fast and easy snack when you're hungry and in a hurry.

When I make ramen noodles, I make them a bit different. Well, actually I don't make them at all. In the bag, I crunch, bang, hit, slam, and drop the noodles until they transform themselves from long noodles all stuck together, into small noodles who distance themselves from their neighboring noodles during the beatdown. The bag may be a little messed up, but that's where ziplock plastic baggies come in handy. Once I put all of the tiny pieces in the bag, I find the little packet of flavoring, I prefer chicken, and I pour it in with the uncooked noodles. Shake, shake, shake and voila! A lovely, crunchy food for an on the go snack. I know I'm not the only one who thinks of different ways to eat ramen. These noodles give you options, options, and more options to make it unique, special, and extremely delicious.

I've been given odd looks, I've been told by my family I'm weird, and I've been asked, "why?!" Why? Because it tastes good! To me, I would rather eat foods that are crunchy and have a texture to them. That could be why I am obsessed with pickles and salted pretzles. Who cares how you eat your food, right? They're not eating it, you are. So, add, mix, crunch, and soak away until you have an edible masterpiece that you are satisfied with. Be creative and enjoy!

Delicious, Delicious, Calories

Delicious, Delicious Calories

Pop tarts are thought of as the perfect breakfast for thousands of children across America. It's one of the few things that they can actually cook (by sliding it into a toaster and pushing a button). The blurb on the side of the package with they tiny asterisk next to it reads it's "baked with real fruit!" means that it must be healthy. Not to mention it tastes like heaven and is packed with sugary goodness! Yes, pop tarts are certainly the perfect breakfast.

The pop tarts themselves are a comprised of a wonderful, soft, breaded crust, that is so fluffy to the touch you feel like you're about to devour a friendly cloud. On the top of the pop tart is certainly the icing on the cake, quite literally. Topped with a beautifully crafted frosting with sprinkles, the pop tart seems to gleam from afar. It acts as a sort of calling for the hungry patron. Once the glimmering frosting catches your eye, you will be sucking the unnecessary sustenance from the delicious delectable. As if this wasn't enough, it is the core of the pop tart that will suck you in and keep you coming back for more. The center of the pop tart is comprised of a red goo that flows with the smoothness of the rivers of celestial heavens. The second it touches one's tongue they instantly feel a certain euphoria. They feel their soul becoming enlightened to the height of material ecstasy. Eating a pop-tart is more then just a breakfast, it's a human experience.

This is what they children of America feel every single time their parents are too lazy to forge a proper breakfast. Benevolence. Satisfaction. An extra pound or two. Thank you, parents of America, for your benign infatuation with calories in place of food.

Nestle' Tollhouse...

Monica from Friends was a very smart lady to think the Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie recipe was far superior to any other chocolate chip cookie recipe. In case you were living under a rock in the year 2000 when this episode aired, it was about Phoebe losing her grandmothers top secret cookie recipe. Monica goes crazy trying to duplicate the recipe just to find out Phoebe's grandmother is "Nestle' Tollhouse" (said in funny french accent) so Phoebe says...

Image taken from "http://snugglenugget.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/my-mom-invented-the-chocolate-chip-cookie/"

I always used to buy the little logs of cookie dough from Nestle that you had to cut out of the plastic wrapping and roll individual balls then bake. I next moved onto the pre-cut squares of Nestle cookie dough that you simply tore off then baked. I then moved on to the big guns, those big tubs of cookie dough that are re-sealable were simply a gift from god! You can take a spoonful out and eat it raw, or bake just few at a time then seal it back up! Now days I use the nestle tollhouse recipe and make them from scratch which is even better!

My grandma has always used the Nestle Tollhouse recipe. Through-out highschool she would always show up and surprise me and my friends with freshly baked Nestle cookies warm out of the oven! Needless to say my grandma was pretty popular at my highschool. I used to get all sorts of bribes for cookies anytime she brought them in. Those cookies were a big part of my highschool career... I will continue to make these delicious, nostalgic treats for my children and grandchildren for ages to come.

"Practice blog-white cheddar popcorn"

To be perfectly honest, I just grabbed the first recognizable food item I saw on my way to class. Luckily, a friend in the library reminded me that I needed to bring something. I had been more focused on how I had to bring a different laptop because mine had decided to become bi-polar the night before I really needed it. Of course, I was also preoccupied with how to write a blog- the only one I have ever seen is hyperbole and a half (not exactly what everyone is expecting for a food blog, though there is one about needing a sandwhich). Either way, I ended up shoving a bag of white cheddar popcorn into my backpack to struggle for survival amongst my textbooks, and rushing to class...
Thankfully, that little blck bag of popcorn had the mind to stay on top of all my school supplies as opposed to jumbling to the bottom and inevitably becoming a pile of an unrecognizable substance at the bottom of my bag. So here I sit in class writing this thinking about what I could possibly say, that would suffice, about this brave, little bag of popcorn.
Clearly I have grabbed this particular brand of popcorn before, hence "first recognizable food...". I had a season where I craved it all the time but have since forgotten about my snack craving. The reason I had stopped eating it was because whenever I bought myself a bag, one of my many family members would claim it as their own while I was preoccupied at school. Those jerks. Thus, my cravings came to an end due to a lack of funds v. ammount I ate. Its really a quite simple and engenious business plan- make a snack that everyone could make on their own, and costs very little to make and charge an extraordinary amount more = major proffit.
My favorite part about this snack is the convenience, but the taste isn't bad either. A small crunch and a large but not overwhelming flavor; just like wearing perfume have enough that it can register but not too much. However, if you eat too much all at once it feels like your teeth are wearing socks.

Welcome Post

This is just a test post to say hello to the class blog. I look forward to seeing your stories here.

Just to show you what I mean about hyperlinks and pics, I will include one of each. This weekend I made a carrot cake adapted from this recipe.

This is kind of what it looked like (I made a single layer).
